Are your digital photos safe? Do you know where they are? Are they going to stay there or disappear one day?
- Shutterfly. Did you get an email from Shutterfly telling you that you must make a purchase at least every 18 months, or your photos will be deleted from their site?
- Costco. Did you get an email from Costco telling you that they are going to delete your photos if you don’t transfer them to Shutterfly?
- Amazon. Over the years, Amazon Photos has changed their policies which keeps you guessing if your photos are safe or not.
- Google Photos. Over the years, Google Photos has changed their policies which keeps you guessing if your photos are safe or not.
There are probably more services that have changed their policies or soon will. Don’t take chances on your precious digital photos. Don’t rely fully on a cloud-based service for your precious digital photos. Use the 3, 2, 1 backup rule: Always keep 3 copies of your photos and videos, on 2 different media, with 1 stored off site.
