If you haven’t already done so, make a complete photo inventory of the contents of your home. If you already have one, check to see if it needs updating. Take a digital photographic tour of your house, opening cabinets, closets, and drawers. The goal is to have a visual record of everything you own. Include closeups of serial numbers on TVs and other big-ticket items. In the event of a loss, the photo inventory will provide support for any claim filed with your insurance company. If you have a safety deposit box, also include the contents in your digital inventory. Make digital albums with specific names to organize your inventory.
